Bonjour! These last two days we have enjoyed activities related to France's national pastime: la cuisine.
On Tuesday after lunch, we were welcomed at the boulangerie of Nordhouse where Monsieur et Madame Stadelweiser treated us to a baking workshop a la francaise in the courtyard of their bakery, under the Alsatian sun.. Students learned how to make baguettes, croissants, and brioches in the shape of rabbits (in anticipation of Easter). Some photos:

Wednesday morning we visited the Lycée Aristide - Briand, which is a local high school that focuses on ... cooking. The students and their maitre-chefs gave our students a comprehensive, hands-on lesson in french cuisine, including a cheese tasting followed by chopping, sauteeing, stirring, rolling dough, grating nutmeg, setting tables, napkin folding, polishing dishes, and of course making friends. The piece de resistance was eating the meal we all prepared, including a classic French dish blanquette de veau.
